Today I took a six hour workshop from Linda Aman.
I loved learning about regional triads, how three colors can create fifteen different shades of numerous values. We made a modern style mosaic like painting, mixing the triad and using plastic templates for shapes. It was mixed media in that pigma ink was used to define some shapes.
My eyes ached from the focus. Weeping does'nt help. Being in class I must face the reality that my painting days are numbered.
I have to see so intensely and they get strained. I know better than to compare myself to other artists so I don't think that contributes. Except in that my efforts to improve will collide with my declining sight and then that will be the end.
I was very happy with today's result!
Mirage was real well behaved. I took her out to relieve every few hours. I played with her as we skipped down the hall returning from outdoors,as a stress relief for both of us. People didn't reach out to pet her, except the teacher, who has a dog like her at home. Jane Alys, my desk partner, refrained from touching Mirage even when "Ragi' leaned up against her.
The most challenging part of the was lunch. We walked a ways to a small restaurant . I couldn't see the menu, because my glasses were on my desk. I asked for an egg salad sandwich, no, they offered tuna. Okay.I started worrying about the bread, since choices weren't offered. White breaded tuna arrived and I returned it, asking for dark bread. Rye? Sure! And the while rye with caraway seeds arrived I was dumbfounded. I ate the tuna, and paid the ridiculous sum of $5.25.
Either my order was really off ( possibly) or they treated me as if I were blind and wouldn't notice.
I could write a letter to Christina's or eat humble pie.
The painting was fun, even through the tears.
I bought four more mats, so I could continue this project for Christmas gifts. I will need to buy some plastic templates.
Carolyn, the Lovely Carolyn, offered me a ride home. I arranged a Cvan ride, but the times were awful. The bus was a possibility and I was almost eager to try it, since it has been months since we rode.
Mirage was happy to eat and play ata reasonable time too. She earned it!
